MultiBound allows you to set up separate profiles/"instances" with different saves, mod loadouts, etc. I personally don't understand why none have been updated to work - or why CF did the changes in the first place (you can just /spawnitem anything you want to in single player anyway).
MultiBound 2 is a full rewrite, replacing the crust of GTK# with Qt5 (with probably a lower memory footprint), and can also install/update Steam Workshop mods for you without having to launch Steam (or indeed even have the Steam version). I think it has something to do with changes the devs made to how player files are generated to discourage save editing. DEPRECATED - MultiBound 2 has been released
